INSPIRATION

This inspirational image captures the historic heart of Amman, where the modern city first emerged and evolved around the valley and the Roman Amphitheater. It reflects a place shaped not only by its physical setting, but also by the dreams, aspirations, and everyday lives of its people. For generations, the valley served as the social, economic, and cultural heart of the city, connecting communities across its hills and laying the foundation for Amman’s transformation into the capital it is today. More than a historical landmark, the Roman Amphitheater reminds us that cities are living narratives. While architecture often celebrates iconic buildings, icons alone do not define our built environment. The true measure of a city lies in the ordinary places where everyday life unfolds—where people build relationships, create memories, pursue dreams, and shape their future. It is through these places that cities acquire their identity, resilience, and meaning. At SARD, we believe that cities are living narratives, continuously shaped by the enduring dialogue among people, place, memory, dreams, and time.

  هكذا بدأت القصة: “نذ اقل من مائة عام لم تكن اي من هذه النوافذ هنا، بينما كانت الجبال هنا وكذلك السماء.لكن  نزعة البقاء لدى الانسان ورغبته في الحياة اوجدت هذا المكان .خلف كل نافذة هناك قصة ،وفي كل قصة هناك احداث ،وخلف كل حدث هناك انسان.وعندما تتجمع هذه الاحداث وتتقاطع وتتراكم فوق بعضها البعض ، حالها  حال هذه النوافذ، تكتب معها رواية المكان.رواية  متجددة لا تنقل ما يحدث في عالم الواقع وحسب، ولكنها تنقل ما وراء هذا الواقع من خيال وأحلام .تنقل ذلك الاصرار اللامنتهي لتحقيق ما يبدو مستحيلا، تنقل الرغبة في حياة افضل. رواية تتجاوزافق ما تبصره العيون عبر هذه النوافذ الضيقة، وتخترق جدران هذه البيوت الصغيرة. انها تتطلع الى انسان عربي الهوية ،في مدينة قد لا تكون فاضلة، ولكنها استطاعت ان تحمل مع اهلها همومهم في لحظة من التاريخ، ومن ثم لتكون هذه المدينة  بالنسبة اليهم ليست مجرد نوافذ و بيوت وطرقات، بل هي  اكثر من ذلك، انها المكان الذي يحفظ  الذكريات وينسج  الاحلام و يعيد بنـــاء المستقبل،انها ســرد حـي “ رائد ارناؤوط-عمان 2012

This is how the story started: “A hundred years ago, there was but the dialogue of the bare mountains and the clear sky; there were no windows, no glimpse of life. Man’s great communal traits have created such a space  where, behind each window, you find a story about Man full of lively details and events. Such miraculous details and events come together, like a mosaic, to script the tale of the space. A tale that portrays what is beyond reality, dream, and imagination portrays the never-ending determination to have a better life. A tale that transcends what can be seen through the eyes of these narrow windows and the walls of these simple houses, enhancing the features of our traditions, of the Arab identity in a city, though not utopian, embraced all the worries and concerns of its people through a critical time in their history; a city more than mere roads, houses, and windows. It has always been an intimate space that keeps people’s memories, hopes, and dreams, yet it is much more than a space of a tale or a tale of a space; it is an epic Sard (narration).”      Raed Arnaout -Amman 2012
