Enhance lighting, sharpness, and natural color balance

The SARD Living Narratives Manifesto.

“Human beings naturally seek meaning. Throughout history, they have expressed this search through dialogue—with one another, with nature, with knowledge, with memory, and with their aspirations. This dialogue takes many forms, including language, rituals, science, music, dance, art, architecture, and urbanism. When it contributes lasting value, it becomes part of humanity’s ongoing narrative. At SARD, we call these Living Narratives. Architecture and urbanism are among the forms through which this philosophy is translated into places that continue to enrich people and communities over time.” Raed Arnaout

SARD Architects and Planners was founded in 2012 by Raed Arnaout as an interdisciplinary architecture, urbanism, placemaking, city branding, and strategic advisory practice dedicated to helping governments, institutions, developers, and communities create human-centered built environments, meaningful places, and lasting value.

If this is your first visit to the SARD portal, we invite you to explore our pages in sequence. Each page reveals another layer of our philosophy and offers another perspective on architecture and urbanism. At SARD, we believe every project has the potential to become a living narrative. Together, we transform ideas into distinctive environments where people, place, memory, aspirations, and time come together to create living narratives.

“Architecture often celebrates iconic buildings. Yet the true measure of the built environment lies not only in its landmarks but also in the ordinary places where everyday life unfolds. These are the places where people build relationships, create memories, pursue dreams, and shape their future. Cities are living narratives—continuously shaped by the enduring dialogue among people, place, memory, dreams, and time.” Raed Arnaou

Strategic advisory for complex projects: Architecture, Urbanism, Place-making, and City Branding

We measure success not only by the projects we help deliver, but also by the long-term value, trust, and success stories we create.

The challenge

The planning, development, and delivery of architecture and urbanism projects have become increasingly complex. Beyond functional requirements and technical considerations, projects today must respond to diverse stakeholder interests, cultural identity, environmental conditions, economic objectives, regulatory frameworks, and the unique characteristics of place.
Whether in the public or private sector, successful projects require more than design expertise. They require the ability to understand context, align vision with objectives, manage complexity, and transform challenges into opportunities.
SARD was founded in 2012 by architect, urbanist, and strategic advisor Raed Arnaout following more than two decades of professional experience across the Middle East and North Africa. The practice was established on the belief that architecture, urbanism, and advisory work should not be treated as isolated disciplines, but as integrated processes that help clients create meaningful places and achieve lasting outcomes. Today, SARD works with governments, institutions, consulting firms, and developers to navigate complexity, create value, and contribute to successful and enduring projects.

We measure success not only by the projects we help deliver, but also by the long-term value, trust, and success stories we create.

Our difference

Vision

To contribute to a future where cities and places are shaped by people, place, and purpose; strengthening cultural identity, enriching everyday life, and creating enduring narratives that connect memory, community, and the future.

Mission

At SARD, we believe that architecture and urbanism are ultimately about improving people’s lives. Our mission is to help governments, institutions, developers, and communities create meaningful places and human-centered built environments through architecture, urbanism, and strategic advisory. We work alongside public- and private-sector organizations to navigate complexity, align vision with objectives, and transform challenges into opportunities. By integrating context, culture, expertise, and long-term thinking, we help create projects, places, and cities that contribute to lasting social, cultural, and economic value.
We measure success not only by the projects we help deliver, but by the positive and enduring impact we create for the people, organizations, and communities we serve.
